Our Work

Istanbul Turkey Earthquake Risk Mitigation and Rehabilitation

Miyamoto International provided earthquake engineering quality control for a World Bank and European Union funded US$1 billion earthquake risk mitigation project in Istanbul, Turkey. This project involved more than 2000 schools, hospitals, emergency response centers, and historic monuments. We were responsible for providing the latest earthquake engineering methodologies and cost-effective solutions for this massive program. With Turkish practice engineers, academicians, and international engineers, we developed a guideline for seismic rehabilitation by using the latest U.S., Japanese, and Turkish codes. By working with the Turkish government, we were able to assist with High-Performance Earthquake Engineering, providing designs that will achieve superior performance at reduced costs. Our international culture helped us work effectively with local and other international consultants.
