L’Aquila, Italy Earthquake

Seismic Engineering Firm – Global Risk Miyamoto Dispatches Reconnaissance Team


April 13, 2009, Los Angeles, CA - Monday, April 6th an earthquake measuring magnitude of 6.3 struck the medieval town of L’Aquila, Italy, approximately 70 miles northeast of Rome. To date, significant damage and/or collapse of buildings and infrastructure have resulted in 290+ deaths, thousands injured and over 40,000 homeless. In response, Global Risk Miyamoto (GRM) has dispatched a team of earthquake engineers to assess the structural integrity of existing buildings and infrastructure, and provide support to clients on damage assessment, loss estimation, and repair recommendations to mitigate further business interruption.
