February 17, 2009 - The New Year has already brought good fortune to Miyamoto International, a world-class seismic structural engineering firm, with the addition of Ed Friedrichs, the former CEO of Gensler.
Friedrichs was appointed President in 1995 and later Chief Executive Officer of the global architecture, design and planning firm, Gensler, in 2000. Friedrichs took responsibility for the firm’s strategic development efforts and his innovative ideas led to the expansion of Gensler operations to 24 offices across the globe. Under his leadership, Gensler was transformed into one of the most revered design firms in the U.S.
Friedrichs’ work was typified by his integration of engineering design with architecture. His passion for sustainable design principles in all areas of construction has made him a vital asset to the world of design.
“The addition of Ed to our Board of Directors will provide excellent experience and guidance both domestically and internationally as we execute our aggressive growth plans,” said Kit Miyamoto, CEO of Miyamoto International. “We plan on being the structural engineer of choice in those areas prone to natural disasters and utilizing Ed’s experience will help us rapidly achieve that aim.”
“I am proud to join a company that has such a strong client focused and creative reputation,” said Friedrichs. “There is nothing more satisfying than working with a team focused on safeguarding lives through innovative and high quality engineering solutions.”
The coupling of Miyamoto International’s mission and Friedrichs’ exceptional expertise in leadership and business expansion, will make 2009 the beginning of a new era for Miyamoto International.
