Kit will present a case study of the building performance in recent earthquakes in Haiti, Japan and Christchurch NZ. He will cover the roles of codes and design guidelines and codes in construction and building performance, the role of structural engineers in the process of safe and/or sustainable building construction, and designing with performance levels that maintain a suitable "life cost" of buildings through high performance structural design.
